Suggesting a Song

You’d love to see your favorite song explained here? That’s awesome, just drop me a line at rockgenius@mheroin.com and I’ll try my best. Keep in mind the following things though:

  • It should be a rock song. If you’re interested in rap you should definitely check RapGenius. For other genres you should try SongMeanings. Even if you don’t like rap, do yourself a favor and head over to RapGenius, it’s not only the inspiration to this site but it also contains some of the most crafted lyrics ever.
  • The lyrics shouldn’t be obvious and hopefully there’s some background story to the song. Although songs that tell a story in a plain fashion are great, that’s not the focus of RockGenius.
  • It’s popular. By popular I don’t mean a Top 40 hit, but someone (besides you) should’ve listened to the song before.
  • The artist cannot be Tool. Fuck Tool.

Writing Posts

Big man, you wanna make some big posts? I love you. I’m open to all kind of contributions and I’d really appreciate it if you want to contribute a song to our archive. Go ahead and email me at rockgenius@mheroin.com.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Your post might be edited a bit before posting. You’ll receive the edited copy to approve it before publishing it.
  • Feel free to include your name, a link to your site, your twitter account or anything that people can use to contact you.
  • Send your articles in plain text, Markdown, PDF or HTML. No Word documents please.
  • Cite your sources for text and images. You don’t need to use some fancy numbering, a paragraph at the end linking to the materials you’ve used is enough.
  • Read the four guidelines in the section above and make sure your song complies with them. If you send a Tool song I’m reporting you as a spammer, black listing you and [probably] sending some thugs over to your home.
